Manage notifications

Proqio's notification system is designed to keep you informed and in control of your app experience. The notifications page allows you to manage when and how you receive alerts about important events, threshold violations, data reception issues, and new comments.

Configuring your notifications

To configure your notification preferences:

  1. Navigate to the Settings menu from the left sidebar
  2. Select "Notifications" section.
  3. For each notification category:
    • Choose the scope (Global, Sites, or Groups where applicable)
    • Select your preferred notification methods (Email, SMS)

Where notifications can be managed?

Thresholds

Threshold notifications alert you when predefined metrics reach or exceed specific values. This feature is particularly valuable for monitoring critical systems where immediate action may be required.

You can configure the type of global notification for each alert level that exists within the project.

Optionally, it's possible to set notifications for specific sites or groups.

Specific notifications on sites or gorups take precedence over the global ones.

For each threshold level, you can choose to receive notifications via:

  • Email
  • SMS (to be able to send it on this way you must add a phone number to your account data)

Data Reception

The Data Reception's alerts notify you when there's an interruption in data flow from connected instruments, in other words, an instrument stopped to receive data. This helps you quickly identify and resolve connectivity issues before they impact your operations.

You can configure these notifications at three different scopes:

  • Global (project-wide)
  • Sites
  • Groups

You can choose also activate notifications via email or SMS.

Specific notifications on sites or gorups take precedence over the global ones.

Comments

Comment notifications help you stay engaged with discussions happening within project's alerts. In addition, you can choose to be notified when:

  • All Comments - Receive notifications for all comments on your posts and when someone mentions you.
  • Mentions Only - Receive notifications only when someone specifically mentions you in a comment.

Disabling notifications

When notifications are disabled in Proqio, you have specific options to control exactly how this disabling works across your project structure.

You're then presented with three options:

  1. Cancel: This option lets you back out of the disabling process altogether. If you select this, no changes will be made to your notification settings, and the channel will remain active wherever it's currently enabled.
  2. Disable all: This is the most comprehensive option. Selecting this will completely turn off this notification channel everywhere in your project hierarchy - at the global level, for all sites, and for all groups. This is useful when you're certain you don't want to receive notifications through this channel under any circumstances.
  3. Disable globally, keep on sites/groups: This is a more nuanced option that demonstrates Proqio's hierarchical approach to notifications. Selecting this will:
    • Turn off the notification channel at the global (project-wide) level
    • Preserve any site-specific or group-specific settings where you've explicitly enabled this channel

This third option is particularly valuable for organizations with complex structures where different teams or locations might have different notification needs. For example, you might want to disable SMS notifications for most routine alerts globally, but keep them enabled specifically for critical systems at certain sites where immediate attention is essential.

The hierarchical nature of Proqio's notification system provides this granular control, allowing you to create a notification strategy that balances awareness with the need to minimize interruptions and notification fatigue.

Best Practices

  • Prioritize Critical Alerts: Consider enabling both email and SMS for Level 3 (Alarm) notifications to ensure you never miss critical issues
  • Reduce Notification Fatigue: Be selective about which notifications you enable to avoid being overwhelmed
  • Regular Review: Periodically review and adjust your notification settings as your project needs evolve.

Troubleshooting

If you're not receiving expected notifications:

  1. Check your notification settings to ensure the appropriate options are enabled
  2. Verify that your email address and phone number are correctly entered in your account settings
  3. Check your email spam folder in case notifications are being filtered
  4. If all above is correct and still you are not receiving notifications, contact support please.
