Borehole Creation and Management
This new feature introduces a comprehensive way to create, visualize, and manage your project’s boreholes directly within the map interface. Integrated into a new Geology section in the Layer Panel, this capability centralizes your subsurface and geological data alongside your existing monitoring data for more complete insights into your sensor data.
Why is this functionality useful?
This new functionality makes it easier than ever to connect geological and geotechnical data with your monitoring information. By visualizing borehole locations directly on the project map, you gain immediate spatial context and a clearer understanding of subsurface conditions in relation to your instrumentation data.
All borehole details—metadata, related documentation, and stratigraphic profiles—are centralized in one place, eliminating the need to manage files and information across multiple tools or folders. This streamlining ensures that every relevant detail is just a few clicks away.
Finally, this feature has an intuitive side panel interface that simplifies day-to-day workflows. It allows users to create, edit, and update borehole data efficiently, reducing manual steps and helping maintain data consistency across their project.
Feature Highlights
-
Integrated Geology Section: A new Geology layer within the Layer Panel houses all borehole data.
-
Map-Linked Visualization: Borehole icons appear directly at their mapped locations.
-
Structured Document Management: Upload and organize supporting files under Borehole Log, Lab Testing, and In-situ Testing folders.
-
Optional Stratigraphic Profiles: Visually represent geological strata, including details such as unit name, description, depth intervals, and material texture.
-
Intuitive Editing Panel: View and manage all borehole details, documents, and stratigraphic profiles from a dedicated side panel.
-
Full File Previews: Open any uploaded document in full size for easy inspection.
How does the Borehole feature it work?
1. Map & Layer Panel Integration
-
A new Geology section appears in the Layer Panel.
-
Under Geology, you’ll find a Boreholes group, which controls the visibility of borehole icons on the map

-
Each borehole is displayed with a unique icon pinpointed to its exact coordinates.
2. Borehole Creation
When creating a new borehole, you can define:
-
Borehole ID (User-Defined): A unique identifier for the borehole.
-
Location: Set by clicking on the map or entering precise coordinates.
-
Document Uploads: Attach files to one of three predefined folders:
-
Borehole Log
-
Lab Testing
-
In-situ Testing
-
-
Stratigraphic Profile (Optional): Add and visualize geological layers with fields for:
-
Geological Unit
-
Description
-
Strata Top and Base
-
Color or Texture
-

3. Interaction and Editing
-
Access via Side Panel: Click any borehole icon on the map to open a detailed side panel, consistent in style and height with the Layer Panel.
-
Comprehensive Overview: Review all metadata, uploaded files, and the stratigraphic profile graph.
-
Full Management Capabilities:
-
Add or remove documents.
-
Edit borehole metadata (ID, location).
-
Modify or delete stratigraphic profiles.
-
Delete entire borehole entries if needed.
-

-
Document Preview: Select any file to open a full-size preview within the interface.
